According to a report by Reuters on September 6, Israeli chip giant TowerJazz suddenly suffered a cyber attack, and some system servers and manufacturing departments were suspended.
According to the company’s official statement, the company has assembled a world-leading technical team and is working closely with law enforcement to restore systems that have been attacked by cyberattacks as soon as possible.
At the same time, the company pointed out in a statement that the actual impact of the attack on the company has not yet been assessed, but the company has taken measures to prevent the situation from escalating.
According to the data, TowerJazz is one of the top ten chip foundries in the world and is in a leading position in the analog chip foundry industry. Its RF and high-performance analog chip products are widely used in consumer, industrial automobile and other fields.
TowerJazz is optimistic about the huge market prospects of China’s semiconductor industry. It has signed a cooperation agreement with the Hefei Municipal Government, and plans to build a 12-inch wafer fab with advanced technology in Hefei. At present, the framework agreement has been signed online.
21ic previously reported that in July this year, another analog/mixed-signal and MEMS foundry company, X-FAB, was hit by a cyber attack, which resulted in the shutdown of six of its fabs.
As we all know, the semiconductor production line must maintain 24-hour uninterrupted operation. If the production line is interrupted due to the occurrence of emergencies, even a short-term power failure will cause huge losses to the wafer fab.
